Nagpur Locals Take Charge, Inaugurate Manish Nagar Underpass Themselves

In a surprising turn of events in Nagpur, residents decided to inaugurate the new Manish Nagar underpass themselves after waiting for months for an official opening. The underpass, which is meant to improve traffic flow between several areas, was ready for use but had been delayed for about ten months due to government red tape. Frustrated by the ongoing delays, locals removed the barricades and started using the underpass, which led to a viral video of their impromptu ceremony.

This action has sparked a big conversation online about the tradition of politicians inaugurating public projects. Many people are questioning why only politicians get to celebrate these openings when it is the taxpayers who actually fund them. Comments on social media have pointed out that it’s time to move away from the "lal batti" culture, where VIPs enjoy special privileges like red beacon vehicles.

One user summed up the feeling by saying, “It’s silly for politicians to be the ones cutting ribbons on roads. We need a change.” Another commenter noted that since the public pays for these projects, they should be the ones to inaugurate them instead of politicians who often cause traffic jams during their visits. This situation not only highlights community action but also challenges the usual way things are done regarding public projects in India.
