NHAI's new rule might block your FASTag, even if it's valid!

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has instructed toll collection agencies to immediately report instances of 'loose' or 'tag-in-hand' FASTags for blacklisting. This crackdown addresses FASTag authenticity concerns as the ministry prepares to launch the annual pass system on August 15 and implement multi-lane free flow (MLFF) tolling.

NHAI has established a dedicated email system for reporting loose FASTags, which pose efficiency challenges to electronic toll collection operations. With FASTag achieving over 98% penetration rate, the technology has revolutionized toll collection nationwide.

The initiative aims to streamline toll operations and ensure seamless highway journeys for users. Loose FASTags undermine system reliability and operational efficiency, making this enforcement crucial for upcoming technological upgrades in India's toll infrastructure.
