Air travelers in the National Capital Region will soon have a new gateway as Noida International Airport (NIA) is set to inaugurate on October 30. The airport will begin passenger operations within 45 days of the launch, initially connecting around 10 major metro cities, including Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Kolkata. International flights are expected to start later, enhancing India’s global connectivity.
Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu confirmed that the airport’s security clearances are complete, and comprehensive operational trials are underway to ensure smooth functioning from day one. The airport is equipped with over 350 high-resolution CCTV cameras, electric fencing, and a Unified Security Operations Centre for 24x7 monitoring.
Phase 1 of the project includes a single runway and terminal capable of handling 12 million passengers annually, with plans to expand capacity to 70 million in the future. The first operational year is expected to serve around six million passengers. Airlines like IndiGo and Akasa Air have already signed agreements for operations.
Authorities are conducting thorough trial runs, system simulations, and staff training to ensure safety, efficiency, and passenger comfort from day one.
