An Upper Division Clerk (UDC) at the Indian Navy’s Directorate of Dockyard in Delhi, Vishal Yadav, was arrested in Jaipur under the Official Secrets Act, 1923, after allegedly leaking sensitive defence information - particularly details of Operation Sindoor - to a Pakistani intelligence handler operating under the alias "Priya Sharma" .
Inspector General Vishnu Kant Gupta of CID (Security) Rajasthan shared that Yadav was first approached on Facebook, before communication shifted to WhatsApp and Telegram. He confessed to receiving approximately ₹2 lakh in total, including a ₹50,000 payout specifically for disclosing Operation Sindoor documents .
Authorities believe Yadav's online gaming addiction and financial problems made him vulnerable to manipulation. He initially leaked low-level data for ₹5,000–₹6,000, but later escalated to more critical material for higher payments through cryptocurrency and bank transfers.
Forensic analysis of his phone uncovered encrypted chats, transaction records, and shared defence intelligence. A joint probe by multiple central agencies is now underway to assess the full extent of the breach and identify any additional collaborators.
