Raana Semiconductors is tackling one of the most significant "bottleneck" technologies in the electronics industry: the production of high-purity silicon ingots. Currently, India is almost entirely dependent on imports for the silicon wafers used in everything from smartphones to solar panels. Founded by a team of material scientists and industry veterans, Raana is building specialized hardware—specifically Czochralski (CZ) crystal growth furnaces—that can produce semiconductor-grade silicon ingots domestically.

• R&D and Talent: The funding will be used to expand their advanced manufacturing facility in Bengaluru and hire specialized thermal and mechanical engineers to refine their proprietary furnace designs.
