A Raipur-bound IndiGo flight (6E-7436) was forced to return to Indore airport shortly after takeoff on Tuesday, July 9, 2025, due to a technical malfunction, officials confirmed. While the airline has not disclosed the nature of the issue, the flight crew took precautionary measures and safely landed the aircraft back in Indore.
Airport Director Praveen Kumar Sharma clarified that the return was not classified as an emergency landing, and that all passengers and crew were safe. The exact cause of the technical fault remains unknown, and the aircraft is currently under inspection by airline engineers.
IndiGo stated that passengers were accommodated on an alternative flight to Raipur and expressed regret for the inconvenience caused. The incident did not affect other flight operations at Indore’s Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport.
This episode highlights growing concerns over aircraft reliability amid India’s rapidly expanding aviation sector. While safety protocols were followed, the incident adds to the list of recent precautionary landings involving domestic carriers.
