Protein is vital for keeping the body healthy, considering that it helps build and repair tissues, produce enzymes, and enhance immunity. Paneer, chole, or lentils are high in protein and high in fiber, which satiates and stabilizes blood sugar levels. Still, some people find it difficult to digest protein in the body. When the body cannot break down protein as quickly as it should, this might cause irritation and larger health problems. Fiber in paneer and other high-protein foods would help keep blood sugar levels at bay.
The most common sign that your body is not digesting protein is bloating. When protein is not fully digested, it ferments in the gut, which creates gas and can make you feel full or uncomfortable. You could also feel fatigued after eating a high-protein meal. This fatigue occurs because your digestive system is working overtime, taking energy away from other activities and leaving you feeling tired.
It may also cause frequent indigestion or heartburn. The process of protein digestion begins in the stomach, where it is broken down by hydrochloric acid. If this process is not going well, then it might result in discomfort such as indigestion or a burning sensation in the chest.
Poor protein digestion also affects your hair, skin, and nails. If your body cannot absorb the necessary amino acids from protein, you may notice weak, brittle nails, thinning hair, or dull skin. This can be an indicator that your body isn't getting enough of the building blocks it needs for healthy skin and hair.
Another red flag is unexplained muscle loss or difficulty recovering after workouts. Protein is key for muscle repair, and if it's not properly digested, your body may struggle to maintain muscle mass or recover after exercise due to a lack of available amino acids.
If you find yourself with one or more of these symptoms, then it's time to pay a visit to a nutritionist or healthcare provider for better improvement in protein digestion. With some appropriate dietary adjustments and professional help, you would ensure that your body receives the nutrition it needs to work at an optimum level.
