Every puja leaves behind flowers, banana leaves, and offerings that connect us to faith - but also generate heaps of waste. Instead of letting this sacred waste end up in landfills, families across India are now turning it into nutrient-rich compost, creating “garden gold” for their plants.
Composting is simple: separate biodegradable items like flowers and leaves from plastic and foil, then layer them in a compost bin. Mix green materials (fresh flowers, fruit peels, food scraps) with brown materials (dry leaves, banana leaves, cardboard). Keep it moist, turn it regularly, and in 4–8 weeks, you’ll have earthy, rich compost that boosts soil fertility and plant health.
You can do it anywhere - backyard or balcony! Using worms, neem leaves, or dried cow dung helps speed up the process.
This eco-friendly habit not only keeps your home clean but also honours traditions while caring for the planet. Every puja can now end with a green blessing for your garden and the Earth.
