Spotify is making music more social with two new features that turn solo listening into a shared experience. The first one, Listening Activity, lets you see what your friends are playing in real time inside Spotify chats. Once enabled, you can tap on their track, play it instantly, save it, or react with emojis - all without leaving the conversation.
The second update, Request to Jam, is for Spotify Premium users. It allows you to invite friends to a live Jam session directly from chat. After joining, everyone in the Jam can add songs to the queue and control playback, even while listening from different locations. Free users can also join if they receive an invite.
Both features come with privacy controls, so you decide who can see your listening activity or join your Jam. The update is rolling out gradually on Android and iOS, making Spotify feel less like an app and more like a hangout space for music lovers.
