On August 11, 1908, India lost one of its bravest young revolutionaries - Khudiram Bose. At just 18 years old, he was executed by the British for his attempted assassination of magistrate Kingsford in Muzaffarpur. His fearless spirit turned him into an icon of India’s freedom struggle, inspiring countless youth to rise against colonial rule.
On August 11, 1934, the famous Alcatraz Federal Prison in the United States welcomed its first group of civilian prisoners. Built on a small island in San Francisco Bay, Alcatraz was designed to be the most secure prison in America. It soon became known for holding some of the country’s most dangerous criminals, including the notorious gangster Al Capone. Over the years, stories of strict rules, harsh conditions, and daring but unsuccessful escape attempts made Alcatraz one of the most feared and mysterious prisons in the world.
From the gallows of Muzaffarpur to the cold cells of Alcatraz, August 11 holds stories of both sacrifice and secrecy that continue to fascinate the world.
