Two US-trained doctors - Dr Dhruv Joshi and Dr Dileep Raman - returned to India after witnessing critical care gaps during their fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. Their mission to bridge India’s ICU shortage led to the birth of Cloudphysician in 2017, a tele-ICU platform designed to support even the most underserved rural hospitals.
At the heart of the innovation lies their “Smart ICU in a Box”, a system that connects hospital ICUs to a central command hub called RADAR. Through 24/7 monitoring, remote specialists guide bedside caregivers, enabling timely interventions and reducing unnecessary patient transfers. This is especially life-changing for hospitals lacking ICU-trained doctors.
By 2022, Cloudphysician had already supported 40,000+ patients across 17 states. Today, their network spans 280 hospitals, benefiting over 1.3 lakh patients.
What makes Cloudphysician stand out are its advanced tools - AIRA (ML-powered notes), HERA (automated digitisation), NETRA (computer vision for nursing efficiency), and SWARA (voice-to-text). Together, they streamline operations and reduce burnout for healthcare staff.
As Cloudphysician expands to government hospitals, it is emerging as a national gamechanger, bringing specialised ICU care to every corner of India.
