BJP MLA T Raja Singh stirred controversy during a Ram Navami procession by claiming that the newly passed Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025, would end so-called “land jihad” across India. Addressing a crowd in Telangana, Singh alleged that Waqf notices were being used to claim land "as if it were ancestral property," and celebrated the amendment as a move to curtail this practice.
He questioned how Waqf land holdings expanded from 4,000 acres at Independence to 9.5 lakh acres today. Singh also reassured Muslims, saying the amendment would not snatch land but ensure fair practices, citing PM Modi's slogan, “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.”
Targeting AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, Singh called him the “biggest enemy of Muslims” for challenging the bill in court, and reiterated his call for a Hindu Rashtra. Massive security deployments ensured the Ram Navami procession concluded peacefully.
