CUV stands for Crossover Utility Vehicle. It's a type of vehicle that blends the tough, sporty look of an SUV with the smooth driving experience of a regular car.
Back in the day, SUVs were built like trucks, great for off-road adventures but not so great for city driving. They were big, heavy, and not very fuel-efficient.
Automakers saw an opportunity and created something new: the CUV. Early models like the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V were built on car platforms (called unibody construction), making them lighter, more fuel-efficient, and easier to drive.
They still offered a higher ride, roomy interiors, and available all-wheel drive, perfect for families, commuters, and weekend warriors alike.
Today, most "SUVs" you see on the road are actually CUVs. They're popular because they offer a great mix of comfort, style, and versatility without feeling like you're driving a tank.
So, next time you hear "CUV," you'll know- it's the modern SUV.
