YouTuber arrested for allegedly spying for Pakistan but who is she?

Jyoti Malhotra, known for her popular travel channel Travel with Jo, has been arrested in Hisar on charges of espionage for Pakistan. With over 377,000 YouTube subscribers, Malhotra reportedly used her influencer status to relay sensitive information to Pakistani intelligence operatives.

Authorities say she visited Pakistan twice in 2023 and maintained encrypted communication with PHC staffer Ehsan-ur-Rahim, alias Danish, who allegedly introduced her to operatives Ali Ehwan and Rana Shahbaz. Malhotra also reportedly traveled to Bali with a handler, further deepening suspicions of her involvement.

The case has unveiled a larger espionage network across Haryana and Punjab. Investigators accuse her of using social media to subtly promote pro-Pakistan narratives as part of a psychological influence operation.

Currently in police remand, Malhotra faces serious charges under the Official Secrets Act and Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
