Air travel isn’t just about reaching your destination; it’s about staying safe, healthy, and comfortable throughout the journey. Experts warn that poor outfit choices can increase your risk of discomfort, injuries, and even medical emergencies.
According to aviation expert Dhairyashil Vandekar, passengers should avoid synthetic clothes and bulky coats. Instead, choose breathable natural fabrics like cotton or merino wool. These help regulate body temperature and are safer in emergencies.
Dr. Hiran Reddy, a critical care specialist, suggests slip-on shoes, not heels or flip-flops. Feet swell mid-flight, so closed-toe, easy-to-remove footwear is essential. He also recommends compression socks for long-haul flights to reduce the risk of blood clots (DVT).
Avoid tight outfits, heavy jewelry, and anything restricting movement. Instead, layer smartly: a light base, a warm middle layer, and a jacket you can remove.
Oversized scarves are handy too-doubling up as blankets or privacy covers.
The bottom line? Dress smart, travel safe.
