In a visit that blended personal heritage with political significance, former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, accompanied by his wife Akshata Murty and their daughters, Krishna and Anoushka, toured India's Parliament House on February 18, 2025.
The family was joined by Akshata's mother, Rajya Sabha MP Sudha Murthy, adding a familial touch to the occasion.
Upon arrival, Lok Sabha Secretary General Utpal Kumar Singh extended a warm welcome to the Sunak family. Their exploration of the Parliament House complex included visits to the galleries, chambers of both Houses, the Constitution Hall, and the historic Samvidhan Sadan, known as the old Parliament building.
The family marveled at the architectural splendor and rich history encapsulated within the walls of India's legislative heart.
This visit was part of a series of engagements during the Sunak family's time in India. Earlier, on February 15, they experienced the timeless beauty of the Taj Mahal, and on February 17, Rishi Sunak held discussions with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar in Delhi.
These interactions underscore the enduring ties between the UK and India, reflecting both personal connections and diplomatic relations.
Rishi Sunak's tenure as UK Prime Minister from 2022 to 2024 marked a period of significant political activity.
His visit to India's Parliament House, accompanied by his family, symbolizes a bridge between his political career and his personal heritage, offering a poignant reminder of the deep-rooted connections that bind nations and families across continents.
