Google has unveiled Doppl, an experimental fashion-tech app under Google Labs that revolutionizes virtual clothing trials. Unlike traditional try-on tools, Doppl uses generative AI to create animated videos showing users wearing outfits, providing realistic fit and movement visualization.
Users can upload photos or screenshots of clothing from any source—friends, thrift stores, or social media—and see animated avatars of themselves wearing the items. The app builds upon Google Shopping's virtual try-on tools announced in May, expanding capabilities beyond static overlays.
Doppl aims to help users explore personal style and experiment with new looks through AI-generated outfit videos that can be saved or shared on social media. Available now on iOS and Android in the US, the experimental app comes with accuracy limitations but promises refinements based on user feedback.
