10 expert tips to check your blood pressure the right way!

Blood pressure is one of the most common health checks-but did you know that most people do it wrong? Even a small mistake can give false readings, leading to unnecessary panic or missed warning signs. Here are 10 simple yet crucial tips to get your blood pressure right every time:

  1. Empty your bladder first – A full bladder can raise readings.

  2. Sit in a relaxed position – Keep your back supported and legs uncrossed.

  3. Rest for 5 minutes before testing – Let your heart settle.

  4. Avoid caffeine or smoking 30 minutes before – These spike your BP.

  5. Place the cuff at heart level – Misplacement affects accuracy.

  6. Use the right cuff size – Too small or too large gives wrong readings.

  7. Don’t talk during the reading – Even speaking can alter numbers.

  8. Take readings at the same time daily – Morning is usually best.

  9. Measure both arms the first time – There can be variation.

  10. Track readings over time – One high reading doesn’t mean hypertension.

Accurate measurement = better heart health.
