In Delhi’s busy academic centres, Aarambh libraries have become a lifeline for thousands of UPSC aspirants, especially those from modest backgrounds. Priced at just ₹1,000 per month, each library accommodates 60 students per shift, with three eight-hour shifts allowing up to 180 students daily.
For many aspirants facing long study hours, financial struggles, and isolation, Aarambh offers more than just desks and Wi-Fi - it provides safety, dignity, and a supportive environment to chase their dream of becoming civil servants.
The initiative was launched after a tragic incident last year, when three UPSC aspirants lost their lives in a flooded basement library in Rajinder Nagar. The disaster highlighted the unsafe and cramped conditions in many private study facilities.
In response, the Delhi government converted underused DDA community centres into well-equipped Aarambh libraries, offering clean spaces, proper lighting, and secure study environments. For many, this has transformed the way they prepare for one of India’s toughest exams, giving them hope and a fighting chance.
