In a swift response to a series of unexplained deaths in Budhal village of Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has directed the formation of an inter-ministerial team to ascertain the cause of the fatalities. Over the past 45 days, 16 individuals have succumbed to a mysterious illness that presents symptoms like fever, nausea, pain, and sudden loss of consciousness. Tragically, these symptoms often progress rapidly, leading to death within days of hospitalization.
The high-level team, led by a senior officer from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, will include experts from health, agriculture, chemicals, fertilizers, and water resources ministries. Specialists from animal husbandry, food safety, and forensic science will provide additional support to unravel the mystery behind the deaths.
Initial findings suggest the illness is not linked to a communicable bacterial or viral disease, ruling out a direct public health threat. Despite this, local residents remain anxious as investigations continue. A critically ill girl remains under medical care, adding urgency to the situation.
The central team will collaborate with the local administration to assess the causes, suggest precautionary measures, and provide immediate relief to affected families. Experts from premier national institutions have been mobilized to assist in managing the crisis.
This incident has sparked concern nationwide, highlighting the need for swift identification of potential environmental, chemical, or other unknown factors contributing to such tragedies.
