Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, ridiculing his journey from being a common man to allegedly embracing a lavish lifestyle. Addressing a public rally in Hauz Qazi, Gandhi mocked Kejriwal's earlier image of simplicity, saying, “Arvind Kejriwal came in a WagonR, wearing a sweater, and climbed a pole. Then he got down and went straight to the Sheesh Mahal.”
The term “Sheesh Mahal” has been used by BJP leaders to criticize the extravagant renovations of Kejriwal's official residence at 6, Flagstaff Road. The controversy has fueled debates on whether AAP’s promises of simplicity align with their leader's current lifestyle.
Rahul Gandhi further attacked Kejriwal for failing to fulfill his promises, particularly regarding cleaning Delhi's water and the Yamuna river. Holding up a bottle filled with murky water, he declared, “This is the water people in Delhi are drinking.” He went on to challenge Kejriwal, sarcastically suggesting he should drink the same water if he truly believed in his promises. “Drink Delhi's water, let's see what happens. We'll meet you in the hospital.”
The Congress leader also brought up the alleged liquor scam in Delhi, accusing Kejriwal and his former deputy, Manish Sisodia, of corruption. “Crores of rupees were stolen, and the people of Delhi suffered.”
With Delhi elections around the corner, this political war of words highlights the ongoing rivalry between AAP and Congress, raising crucial questions about governance, promises, and credibility.
