A powerful duststorm struck Delhi and the surrounding NCR region on Friday evening, claiming one life after a wall collapse at an under-construction site. The storm caused chaos, uprooting trees and disrupting air traffic, with multiple flight diversions and delays at the Delhi Airport. The temperature in the capital dipped to a comfortable 35.8°C, with more unsettled weather expected on Saturday, including light rain and winds gusting up to 40 kmph.
Meanwhile, Bihar faced nature's full wrath, 61 people have died due to extreme weather events, including 22 from lightning strikes and 39 from hailstorms and rain. Nalanda district recorded the highest toll at 23. CM Nitish Kumar announced ₹4 lakh compensation for each bereaved family.
IMD warns of continued thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across several Indian states including Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, and Assam. Clear skies may return by Sunday, but heatwaves are likely to hit by April 16.
