Bhubaneswar, the capital city of Odisha, has been recognized as the 'City with Best Public Transport System' by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA). This prestigious award was conferred upon the city for its innovative and efficient public transport services, primarily the 'Mo Bus' and 'Mo-E Ride' initiatives.
The award was received by Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra from Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar at the 17th Urban Mobility India Conference and Expo in Gandhinagar, Gujarat.
Mahapatra expressed pride in this achievement, stating that it signifies the state's commitment to sustainable development under the 'VIKSIT Odisha' vision. He emphasized that the focus on enhancing public transportation has revolutionized the way citizens commute in Odisha. By implementing cutting-edge technologies, expanding the network, and prioritizing passenger safety and accessibility, the government has significantly improved the overall public transport experience.
This is the sixth time that the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) managed Mo Bus service has been honoured by the central government. The service has become an indispensable part of daily life for residents of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri, Rourkela, Berhampur, and Sambalpur.
The recent revamp of the Mo Bus app has further enhanced the digital ticketing experience, making it more convenient for commuters.
