The Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) scheduled media screening of Unbreakable, a documentary highlighting alleged conspiracies against its leaders, was abruptly cancelled in Delhi on Saturday. Delhi Police cited the absence of required election-related permissions as the reason for halting the event at Pyare Lal Bhawan.
AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, the event's chief guest, strongly criticized the cancellation, calling it an act of political intimidation by the BJP. “This was a private screening, not a public event. Why is the BJP so afraid of this film?” he asked during a press conference. According to Kejriwal, the film exposes how AAP leaders were unjustly imprisoned, unveiling conspiracies aimed at targeting the party.
The Delhi Police clarified their stance, stating, “All permissions for political activities during elections are routed through the single-window system at the DEO office. No such permission was sought for this event, making it a guideline violation.” The police emphasized that they could neither grant nor reject permissions during the election period.
Kejriwal dismissed these explanations, arguing that no permissions were necessary for a private media screening. He accused the BJP of resorting to “goondagardi” (hooliganism) and dictatorship, claiming that the cancellation reflects the ruling party's fear of AAP’s revelations.
The controversy highlights escalating tensions as election season begins, with both sides trading accusations over censorship and adherence to election norms.
