The Amazon Great Indian Festival 2025 has got off to a blazing start, registering an unprecedented ~38 crore customer visits in its first 48 hours. The sale opened to Prime members on September 22, followed by general access on September 23. More than 70 percent of the traffic came from beyond India’s top metros, underscoring the rising purchasing strength of Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets. I
A standout trend is the strong performance in the smartphone segment: devices priced above ₹20,000 saw year-on-year growth of nearly 50 percent. Other categories also saw solid gains - premium appliances, TVs, and eco-friendly kitchen products all reported double-digit growth. Amazon also leveraged GST reforms via its “#GSTBachatUtsav” storefront, enabling sellers to pass savings on to consumers across appliances, fashion, electronics, and more. The festival continues through Diwali, as Amazon and its seller ecosystem aim to build on this early momentum amid a shifting retail and tax landscape.
