On July 28, 2025, a joint operation was launched by the Indian Army, CRPF, and Jammu & Kashmir Police in the Lidwas area of Dara, located in central Srinagar, following specific intelligence about militant presence. The Chinar Corps confirmed via a post on X (formerly Twitter) that “contact established in General Area Lidwas. Operation in progress.”
The gunbattle is taking place in the Mulnaar forest region of Harwan, a remote and heavily wooded stretch of the city. The operation follows a standard cordon-and-search protocol, with forces moving in as militants opened fire when approached.
Local agencies report that the area has been sealed off to prevent militant escape and ensure civilian safety. No details on casualties have been released so far. Officials emphasize that further information will be shared as the operation progresses.
As the situation develops, authorities have urged residents and visitors to avoid the upper reaches of Harwan and Mulnaar until full containment is achieved.
