Have you ever seen a car with a 0000 number plate in India? If you have, chances are it's either fake, part of a movie shoot, or an unregistered test vehicle. While VIP number plates are a status symbol for many, an all-zero number is not legally issued by any RTO in the country.
Is the 0000 Number Plate Legal?
The short answer? No. According to the Regional Transport Office (RTO), a vehicle cannot have a registration number consisting of only zeros. If you come across one, it's likely being used illegally or for temporary purposes like advertising or testing. Unlike other fancy numbers, 0000 is not up for sale.
VIP Number Plates and Their Pricing
If you're looking for an exclusive number plate, you have plenty of legal options, just be ready to pay for them! Here's how VIP numbers are categorized in India:
Super Elite: 0001 – Rs. 5 lakhs.
Elite: 0002 to 0009 – Rs. 3 lakhs.
Premium: 0010 to 0099, 0786, 1000, 1111, 7777, 9999 – Rs. 2 lakhs.
Semi-Fancy: 0100, 0222, 6666, 9000 – Rs. 1 lakh.
Other VIP Numbers: Rs. 75,000.
How to Get a VIP Number Plate?
You can apply for a fancy number through the Parivahan Sewa portal or visit your local RTO. If multiple people want the same number, it goes to an auction, so be prepared to bid!
A 0000 number plate is not legal in India. If you're after a standout registration number, explore the legal VIP options instead. Drive safe, and make sure your vehicle is legally registered!
