In a major anti-fraud breakthrough, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two Maharashtra-based men, Sandeep Shah (alias Jawahar Shah) and Salim Patel, for allegedly defrauding NEET-UG 2025 aspirants and their families . The duo purported to have connections within the National Testing Agency (NTA) and promised to manipulate NEET scores in exchange for a staggering ₹87.5–90 lakh per candidate .
The CBI recovered strong evidence from their phones and digital communications, including WhatsApp logs and financial trails spanning hawala transactions . While investigators confirmed no NTA involvement, the case sheds light on the dark underbelly of high-stakes exam rackets .
A special CBI court in Mumbai has extended their custody until June 16, allowing further probing into possible connections and accomplices . With NEET results recently announced and admissions underway, the arrests act as a stern warning to others—fraudsters beware, authorities are watching.
