Formula One CEO Stefano Domenicali is meeting with Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra to discuss the possibility of bringing a Grand Prix to Thailand. The country is now conducting a feasibility study to assess the costs, logistics, and potential economic benefits. Shinawatra is emphasizing that hosting an F1 race is helping Thailand enhance its global image, boost tourism, and develop urban infrastructure.
Domenicali is exploring new markets as F1's popularity is surging, and Thailand's interest is aligning with upcoming gaps in the race calendar. The country’s Buriram circuit is continuing as a MotoGP regular, but it has never hosted an F1 event.
Last year, former Thai PM Srettha Thavisin was proposing a Bangkok street circuit, showcasing the city's historic charm. However, Thailand is facing stiff competition from France, Germany, and Turkey, which are all vying for an F1 return. The Asia-Pacific region is currently hosting four races, and Thai-British driver Alex Albon is representing the country on the grid. Talks are ongoing, and Thailand’s F1 dream is possibly turning into reality.
