Ghaziabad’s Cyber Police have busted a complex fake insurance policy racket, arresting seven individuals, including two former HAXR call‑centre employees - Aman Aggarwal (29) and Rahul Sharma (23). The gang allegedly exploited stolen customer data to dupe victims with bogus promotional offers from reputable insurers like Reliance, Bharti Hexa, Cigna TTK, HDFC, and Bajaj .
Operating a makeshift mobile office inside a car and using pre‑activated SIM cards issued under false identities, they generated counterfeit receipts through specialized software. Over the course of the scam, they duped more than 1,500 individuals across 10 states, accumulating nearly ₹4.5 crore. The syndicate even carried out operations from luxury vehicles, according to police reports .
The accused - the two prime suspects along with Aftab Alam, Rahul Yadav, Deepak Singh, Garvit Tyagi, and Jagjit Singh - have been booked under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (sections 3(5), 318(4), 336(3), 338, 340) and Section 66 of the IT Act .
Police are continuing the investigation to uncover any remaining accomplices and recover the defrauded funds. This case underscores the growing sophistication of cyber fraud in insurance.
