A sudden flash flood in South Tripura district has rendered more than 100 families homeless after their homes were inundated by rising waters on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. Officials confirmed that several low-lying areas have been submerged, prompting immediate evacuation efforts by local authorities.

In response to the disaster, all schools and anganwadi centres across the district have been ordered to remain shut for the day as a precautionary measure. Relief camps have been set up in nearby higher-ground locations to shelter those displaced by the flooding.
