Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has candidly shared his experience upon discovering that his son, Junaid Khan, has dyslexia. Reflecting on his initial reactions, Aamir admitted to scolding Junaid for his handwriting and reading difficulties, likening himself to the strict father character in his 2007 film Taare Zameen Par.
"I used to scold Junaid. I was like Nandkishore Awasthi in the beginning," Aamir recalled, referencing the character he portrayed in the film. He noted that Junaid would often confuse words like "from" and "for," leading to frustration and misunderstandings. It was only after engaging with the script of Taare Zameen Par that Aamir and his ex-wife, Reena Dutta, recognized the signs of dyslexia in their son. This realization prompted them to consult a specialist, who confirmed the diagnosis.
Junaid, who made his acting debut with the Netflix film Maharaj in 2024, has spoken openly about his condition. He emphasized that his parents were supportive throughout his educational journey, especially after understanding the challenges posed by dyslexia.
Aamir's forthcoming film, Sitaare Zameen Par, is described as a spiritual successor to Taare Zameen Par, focusing on the experiences of specially-abled individuals. The actor's personal insights into dyslexia are expected to inform and enrich the narrative of his new project.
