Happiness : A Destination or A Direction?

A fine, sunny afternoon, I found myself contemplating the nature of life and happiness. When I was younger, I used to believe that life is a journey, full of endless ordeals, and one day, everything magically falls into place—a happily ever after to live.

As an adult, I understand that happiness is a mere human emotion, and even the smallest of things can make you feel happy. I feel happy when I get to do something I like. An activity as simple as listening to my favourite song can make me extremely happy. Then what is this "happily ever after" I'm seeking? It won't be wrong to call the concept of living a happily ever after an illusion. This whole journey that we call life has no destination.

Happiness is not a destination; it's a direction—a motivating force that encourages us to move forward, to seek the same bliss in different ways. My contemplation on life and happiness took me to realize that on our voyages, we are met with many incidents that make us happy.

Every time we lose something dear to us, we gain something even better. For each tear shed, life gives us a moment to smile.

And that's how we can reach happiness. By living a life we're grateful for, we can see that happiness is embedded in all the turns and twists of our lives.
