EaseMyTrip co‑founder Prashant Pitti had a frustrating experience late Saturday night on Bengaluru’s Outer Ring Road. What should have been an 11‑km ride took nearly two hours due to heavy congestion. In a post on X, he said, “I don’t want one more Bengaluru traffic meme or rant. I want to fix it”.
To back up his words, Pitti has offered to invest ₹1 crore in hiring senior AI and ML engineers. His plan involves leveraging satellite imagery, Google Maps’ “Road Management Insight” data, and AI tools to identify traffic chokepoints and their peak timings. The initiative is poised to tackle Bengaluru's most problematic intersections but will require cooperation from city authorities like the BBMP and traffic police to access real-time data.
The post drew strong support online, with several AI professionals volunteering to contribute and others sharing similar solutions they’d developed earlier. Pitti emphasized that while Bengaluru is India’s tech hub, its residents deserve better than daily gridlock. His call‑to‑action: tag city officials, invite AI collaboration, and help turn this vision into a reality.
