The annual Hemkund Sahib Yatra began on May 25, 2025. Nestled at 15,000 feet in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district, Hemkund Sahib is one of the highest and holiest Sikh gurudwaras, dedicated to Guru Gobind Singh. Surrounded by snow-capped peaks and a glacial lake, the site offers a spiritually enriching and scenic experience.
Pilgrims must register online for the yatra. The journey begins from Govindghat, which is accessible by road. From there, a 15 km trek via Pulna and Ghangaria leads to the gurudwara. The nearest airport is Jolly Grant, Dehradun (276 km from Govindghat), and the nearest railway station is Haridwar.
Nearby, the Valley of Flowers - just 3 km from Ghangaria - is a must-visit. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it blooms vibrantly in July and August. Pilgrims often combine both treks, making the Hemkund Yatra a perfect blend of faith, nature, and adventure.
