In a deeply tragic incident, seven members of a Hisar-origin family were found dead in a car in Sector 27, Panchkula, in what police suspect to be a suicide pact driven by financial distress. The deceased include a 41-year old businessman, his wife, their three children, and his elderly parents. A seventh family member, initially alive, revealed their debt burden before dying at the hospital.
The family had recently moved back from Dehradun and was living in Saketri on rent. A suicide note found in the car stated no one was responsible and cited business losses worth ₹7 crore. A bottle of psychiatric medicine was recovered, indicating possible poison consumption.
Officials confirmed that the family had abandoned property and faced constant threats due to unpaid debts. Police are investigating all angles, checking CCTV footage and speaking to neighbors.
