Ghulam Nabi Azad, born on March 7, 1949, is a seasoned politician whose career spans decades, leaving an indelible mark on Indian politics. A former Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir and a veteran parliamentarian, Azad has held key portfolios in the central government, including Health Minister, where he played a crucial role in launching India's ambitious rural healthcare programs.

 

Few know that Azad started his political journey as a student leader and was mentored by Sanjay Gandhi during the Emergency. His tenure in the Rajya Sabha was among the longest, shaping critical policy decisions. In 2022, he made headlines by breaking away from the Congress party and forming his own political outfit, the Democratic Progressive Azad Party.

 

Despite controversies, Azad remains a respected statesman, known for his pragmatic approach and political adaptability. His legacy continues to influence the ever-evolving landscape of Indian politics.
