Tensions between Israel and Iran erupted into open conflict for a third consecutive day as Iran launched a fresh barrage of missiles into Israel, killing at least eight civilians—striking in residential areas like Bat Yam and Tamra, where families, including children, were among the victims. Over 100 people were injured, and several remain missing under rubble in multiple strikes.
In swift retaliation, Israel conducted additional airstrikes targeting military and nuclear infrastructure in Iran. The Israeli Air Force struck missile launchers and storage facilities in western Iran, including fuel tanks and oil depots in Tehran, notably setting fire to the Shahran oil depot—though Iran states refinery operations continue uninterrupted.
This round of strikes stems from Israel’s earlier Operation “Rising Lion” (launched June 13), which hit over 100 Iranian sites—nuclear facilities, missile systems, senior military figures—and was enabled by covert drone support from a Mossad drone base within Iran.
Diplomatic efforts are faltering: nuclear negotiations between Iran and the U.S. in Muscat have been canceled, and international leaders—including the U.S., UK, France, and Germany—are urging de‑escalation. Meanwhile, former U.S. President Trump has warned Iran against targeting American interests, threatening “full‑strength” retaliation.
