In a disturbing development in the Kolkata law college gang-rape case, the security guard of the institution has been arrested for allegedly facilitating the crime. The 24-year-old survivor, in her police complaint, stated that the guard did not just fail to intervene but actively enabled the assault by vacating his room on the instructions of the prime accused.
The survivor was allegedly gang-raped by three male students inside the college premises in the guard's quarters. According to police sources, the guard watched the incident unfold but remained silent, raising serious concerns over institutional complicity and lack of accountability.
All four accused - including the guard and three students believed to be affiliated with a political student wing - are now in custody. The case has sparked widespread protests and outrage, especially after a Trinamool MP made controversial comments about the crime, triggering public fury.
Police investigations are ongoing, with calls growing for stronger campus safety protocols and swift justice.
