India – 13 August 1795: Death of Ahilyabai Holkar

On this day, India lost one of its most beloved rulers, Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar of Malwa. Known for her just and compassionate leadership, she built temples, dharamshalas, and public works across India, including the restoration of the Kashi Vishwanath Temple. Her reign is remembered as a golden period of welfare and development.

World – 13 August 1961: Berlin Wall Construction Begins

In the early hours of August 13, East Germany began sealing the border between East and West Berlin with barbed wire and concrete blocks-later becoming the Berlin Wall. This marked the physical and ideological division of the city for 28 years, symbolizing the Cold War.
