Little did young Rafi imagine that his soulful voice would mesmerize millions in the years to come. In a career spanning nearly 40 years, he lent his voice to over 7,000 songs in several languages .
In 1945 , Mohammed Rafi made his debut as a playback singer with the song ' Aji Dil Ho Kabu Mein To Dildar Ki Aisi Taisi ' with G.M. Durrani for the film Gaon Ki Gori. During his career , he has sung songs like Likhe Jo Khat Tujhe , Baharon Phool Barsao , Suhani Raat Dhal Chuki and Kya Hua Tera Wada. On July 31 , 1980 , just hours after recording his last song , Shaam Phir Kyon Udas Hai Dost , at Mehboob Studios for J. Om Prakash's film Aas-Paas , Rafi died. He died at the age of 55 after suffering a heart attack .
