The UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) scheme, aimed at making air travel more accessible and affordable, is set for a major expansion under the Union Budget 2025-26.
The government has announced a revamped version that will enhance regional connectivity by adding 120 new destinations over the next 10 years, significantly improving air travel access across India.
Key Highlights:
1. The scheme aims to serve 4 crore passengers in the next decade.
2. New greenfield airports in Bihar will be developed to improve air connectivity in underserved regions.
3. Expansion of flights to remote and tier-2 and tier-3 cities under the scheme.
4. Builds on the success of the original UDAN, which enabled 1.5 crore first-time fliers.
5. Expected to boost tourism, trade, and regional economic growth.
With enhanced infrastructure, including new airports in Bihar, this initiative will strengthen affordable and inclusive air travel, creating new opportunities for economic development across the country.
