Red alert in Delhi! IMD’s shocking heatwave warning you can't ignore!

Delhi-NCR is currently facing an intense heatwave, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a ‘red alert’ as temperatures soar above 45.5°C in several areas. Citizens, especially the elderly, children, and those with existing health conditions, are advised to avoid prolonged outdoor exposure and stay hydrated.

According to IMD’s latest update, temperatures are expected to remain between 44°C and 46°C for the next two days. Ayanagar recorded the highest at 45.5°C, while Safdarjung reported 43.8°C - both well above the seasonal average. With 39% humidity and dry south-westerly winds, the discomfort has further intensified.

IMD Senior Scientist Dr. Naresh Kumar confirmed that the heatwave is affecting large parts of northwest India including Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and parts of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

Relief is expected from the night of June 13, with a western disturbance likely to bring light rain and thunderstorms.
