The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has updated the stipend guidelines for medical trainees across India, effective from June 1, 2025.
These revised rates apply to trainees in NBEMS-accredited institutions, including government, private, Railway, ESIC, and PSU hospitals. As per the new structure, first-year DNB (Broad Specialty) trainees will receive ₹43,000 per month, increasing to ₹47,000 by the third year.
Post-Diploma DNB trainees will earn ₹45,000 to ₹47,000 monthly. For DrNB (Super Specialty) trainees, stipends range from ₹49,000 to ₹53,000 over three years. Direct six-year DrNB trainees begin at ₹43,000, reaching ₹53,000 in the sixth year. FNB trainees will receive ₹49,000 and ₹51,000 in their two-year program.
NBEMS also mandates that accommodation, if provided, must not reduce the stipend. These revisions aim to ensure parity with government norms and improve support for future medical professionals.
