A disturbing incident has emerged from Bahokudar village in Jharkhand’s Garhwa district, where a 19-year-old newlywed stands accused of poisoning her 22-year-old husband, Budhnath Singh, just one month into their marriage. According to police reports, the woman allegedly spiked his chicken dish with pesticide on Monday, leading to Budhnath’s sudden collapse and subsequent death .
Authorities have apprehended the suspect, but the motive behind this shocking act remains unclear. Investigators are probing whether the crime stemmed from a domestic dispute, illicit affair, dowry demands, or other underlying familial tensions. The case is being treated with utmost seriousness, with post‑mortem examination and forensic analysis in progress.
This tragic event has once again spotlighted the urgent need to address domestic violence and marital discord, especially in rural regions where issues like forced marriages and dowry pressures still persist. Legal experts are urging state and central authorities to strengthen community outreach, mental health support, and marital counseling to prevent such lethal outcomes.
As the investigation unfolds, villagers and authorities alike are left in shock, grappling with the grim reality that a young life was abruptly ended under such horrifying circumstances.
