A tragic reactor explosion at a pharmaceutical manufacturing unit in Hyderabad’s Sangareddy district claimed five lives and injured several others on Sunday. The blast occurred in one of the plant’s reactors, reportedly due to a chemical reaction mishap, triggering chaos both within the facility and in nearby areas.
The incident took place at SB Organics Ltd in Chandapur village. A total of 13 workers were rescued following the explosion, while rescue personnel continue to assess the site for further risks. According to preliminary reports, the blast was so intense that it caused structural damage and sent shockwaves through the area, prompting panic among local residents.
Firefighters and emergency response teams were immediately deployed to contain the situation. Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the explosion and whether safety protocols were violated. Authorities have also assured compensation to the families of the deceased.
The incident raises serious concerns about industrial safety standards in the pharmaceutical sector.
