In August 2025, India’s white-collar job market gained momentum with overall hiring activity rising 3 percent year-on-year, according to the Naukri JobSpeak report. The standout performer? AI and machine learning roles, which surged by an astonishing 54 percent, reflecting soaring demand for advanced tech skills. Hyderabad topped the recruitment charts, particularly in its vibrant startup ecosystem.
Amidst this tech upswing, several non-IT sectors also recorded notable growth: Insurance (+24%), Hospitality and Travel (+22%), Real Estate (+18%), BPO/ITES (+17%), and Education (+16%) all showed significant hiring gains. Notably, Hospitality also accelerated fresher hiring, registering a remarkable 44 percent increase.
Meanwhile, more traditional sectors struggled—IT/Software Services saw a 6 percent decline, and Telecom dropped 13 percent. However, IT unicorns bucked the trend with a 10 percent uptick in hiring. In the South, Real Estate hiring notably picked up in Chennai (+22%) and Hyderabad (+18%).
