Jewel Thief - The Heist Begins is Saif Ali Khan's first project after his knife attack earlier this year.

Streaming on Netflix, the film features Saif as a charming thief, but it's Jaideep Ahlawat who actually carries the film with his intense performance. Sadly, even his effort feels overdone at times.

The story, written by David Logan, is highly predictable. Saif's character is blackmailed into stealing a jewel called the Red Sun, leading to a dull plot filled with too many flashbacks and cheesy dialogues.

One line even has Saif saying, "In the gagan" instead of "in the air."

Despite stylish visuals and exotic locations, the movie suffers from weak writing. Nikita Dutta adds glam but little else, and Kunal Kapoor underwhelms.

What could have been a sleek thriller ends up being unintentionally funny.
