Shweta Tripathi has officially begun shooting for Mirzapur: The Film, stepping back into her compelling role as Gajgamini “Golu” Gupta from the hit web series. The film adaptation, slated for release in 2026, is a cinematic extension of the Mirzapur universe, spotlighting favorite characters like Kaleen Bhaiya, Guddu Pandit, Munna Tripathi, and more.
The project brings back Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyenndu, and Abhishek Banerjee, among others. It is directed by Gurmmeet Singh and is produced by Excel Entertainment. Filming has begun in Varanasi, a city that holds personal significance for Tripathi. She has described Varanasi as her “second home,” citing earlier projects like Masaan, Escaype Live, and Kalkoot, and a close bond through her trainer Tridev Pandey, who is also from Benaras.
Tripathi has called playing Golu a surreal, overwhelming, and deeply emotional experience—pointing out that the character has grown with her over many years. With the film expected to dive deeper into timelines and arcs from earlier seasons, fans are eagerly waiting to see how Mirzapur: The Film expands the story on the big screen.
