U.S. stock markets rebounded sharply on Tuesday, recovering from Monday's global sell-off triggered by President Donald Trump's sweeping tariff announcements. The Dow Jones surged 1,363 points (3.6%), while the S&P 500 rose 3.7%, and the Nasdaq climbed 4.2%. Key drivers included a Medicare Advantage payment increase in 2026, which sent health insurers like Humana (+13.5%) and United Health (+8.9%) soaring. Levi Strauss also saw a 5% boost after posting strong earnings despite ongoing trade uncertainty.
Bond yields climbed, with U.S. Treasury yields hitting 4.24%, and crude oil prices rebounded slightly from four-year lows. Bitcoin bounced back above $79,000 after dipping to $76,000.
Big tech stocks like Nvidia, Meta, and Tesla gained 4–5%, and the Russell 2000 rose 2.5%. Tech and banking sectors led with 3.5% and 4% gains, respectively.
Global markets followed suit: Tokyo jumped 6%, Paris 3.4%, and India’s Sensex and Nifty rose 3%, reversing Monday's panic over tariff-fueled recession fears.
